Lesson 3.1: Class Overview

The SilverSneakers { } class is designed to build confidence and exercise readiness. The 30-minute class provides an accessible entry point for older adults who are new to exercise and may not yet be ready for a 45-minute class experience.

SilverSneakers <> follows the standard 5-segment format of Warm-up and Range of Motion, Work, Cool-down, Final Stretch and Relaxation. These segments are delivered within a simplified 10/10/10 structure to build the skills, endurance and the confidence needed to progress to other SilverSneakers classes.

SilverSneakers Mobility Exercise Order

The Warm-up, Work and Final Stretch segments follow a consistent exercise order – lower body, upper body, and core. This balanced format ensures that all major areas of the body are addressed through multi-joint exercises that support activities of daily living (ADLs). Additionally, this order helps support a predictable and easy-to-follow class experience.

  • Lower body exercises support movements such as standing, walking, and lifting.
  • Upper body exercises support reaching, carrying, and pushing.
  • Core support posture, balance, and stability.
