The SilverSneakers Circuit Booster Pack is designed to provide choreography options that support the goal of improved cardiovascular endurance and muscular strength without increasing risk. Upon completion, instructors will be able to confidently and effectively create resistance segments, using the Entrance, Action, Exit method. This course includes practical tools such as video demonstrations, downloadable choreography and a 45-minute Master Class.

Course objectives

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  1. Identify the benefits of circuit training for the older adult population.
  2. Apply best practices for a safe and effective Circuit class. 
  3. Define and utilize the Entry, Action, Exit Method.

SilverSneakers® Yoga: Booster Pack 1

The SilverSneakers Yoga: Booster Pack is designed to provide choreography options that support the goals of increasing flexibility, range of motion, balance and mind-body integration following the principles of the five-segment class format.

A 45-minute yoga Master Class is provided to demonstrate functional movement patterns, equipment for progressive pose options and exercises for fall prevention. Participation in the SilverSneakers Yoga Master Class is required for completion of this training.

Course objectives

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Define the five functional movement patterns. 
  • Identify the benefits of functional movements.
  • Integrate functional movement patterns into yoga postures appropriate for a SilverSneakers Yoga class.

SilverSneakers® Stability: Booster Pack 1

The SilverSneakers Stability: Booster Pack 1 is designed to inspire ideas for creating effective exercise combinations to train balance and stability following the principles of the five-segment format.

A new 30-minute sample class demonstrates balance drills and exercise variations to train static balance, dynamic balance and walking gait, and the sensory system. The education section that follows highlights sensory system training for visual skills. The benefits of including variations of eye exercises to improve kinesthetic awareness and proprioception are discussed.

Print out a copy of the written choreography. Watch the sample class. Complete the education section. Make notes such as how you will introduce a new exercise, how to coach the movement or explain the benefits of an exercise to the participants. Two Tivity credits are earned upon completion of this course.

  • Create effective exercise combinations to train balance and stability following the principles of the five-segment class format.
  • Integrate new sensory exercises during drill work to improve visual awareness.

SilverSneakers® Classic: Booster Pack

The purpose of the SilverSneakers Classic Booster Pack is to share exercise combinations appropriate to use in your Classic class and inspire creative variations to keep your participants active and motivated.

We have designed a 45-minute sample class demonstrating fun and effective exercise combinations appropriate for your SilverSneakers classes. We recommend that you watch and participate in the class.

Next, print out the written directions and watch the master class again. Make notes such as how you will coach the movement or explain the benefits of an exercise to the participants.

The education that follows explores application of key class components to help inspire functional variations while following the class format guidelines. Two Tivity credits are earned upon completion of this short course.

Classic: Deep Dive into the Fabulous “Fives”

Goal: Add variety to the Classic 5-segment format while applying the 5 skill-related fitness components and the 5 functional movement patterns to create lots of great exercise combinations. 

Objective:

  • Create ideas for effective exercise combinations that incorporate:
    • the 5-segment format.
    • the 5 skill-related fitness components.
    • the 5 functional movement patterns.
