SilverSneakers® Well-Balanced

Course Introduction

The SilverSneakers® Well-Balanced program is a comprehensive offering that includes movement, measurement, and meaningful education to help older adults reduce their risk of falls. You’ll explore the many causes of falls, learn how to administer and interpret functional assessments, deliver targeted education, and apply movement strategies that improve balance, strength, flexibility, and mobility. This course will equip you with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to lead an effective, evidence-based fall prevention class for older adults. Upon completion, you will be awarded four continuing education credit toward the renewal of SilverSneakers Foundations.

Course Learning Objectives

  • Identify common age-related changes and the risk factors that contribute to falls in older adults.
  • Describe how functional fitness assessments and educational strategies are used to identify fall risk and support participant engagement.
  • Explain the purpose and structure of a five-segment Well-Balanced class, including how each component supports balance, strength, and mobility.
  • Recognize effective teaching strategies, coaching cues, and safety practices that support inclusive, participant-centered Well-Balance.

The SilverSneakers® Well-Balanced online instructor training includes four learning units and corresponding lessons. To progress through the lesson material, click “Next” at the bottom of the page. You can review your completed lessons through the table of contents at any time during the course.

Step Two: Complete the assessment.

All content, including videos and quizzes, is required. After reviewing the course material, you must successfully complete the final assessment.

Step Three: Download your course completion certificate.

After completing the course, you can download your continuing education certificate from your profile at instructor.tivityhealth.com. Make certain to keep your instructor profile up-to-date and complete all required continuing education.
