Why Education Matters
Education is one of the most powerful tools in a behavior change or lifestyle program. While assessments identify risks and exercise improves physical capacity, education builds awareness.
Many older adults are unaware that:
- Fall risk is not an inevitable part of aging
- Falls can happen to anyone, even to healthy, active individuals
- Evidence-based strategies and education may significantly reduce fall risk
- Different medications and supplements, behaviors, and household conditions may increase fall risk
As a trusted instructor, you have a unique opportunity to reinforce these messages and empower participants to take control of their well-being.
The Weekly Topics You’ll Teach
Each week, your SilverSneakers® Well-Balanced class will include a brief educational message focused on one fall prevention topic. The education we provide is designed to spark reflection and conversation, offering practical tools that participants can apply at home or share with family members.
This 12-week overview highlights each topic along with the main message to deliver. A PDF of all scripts can be found below and in the Instructor Resource section at the end of this course.
