Course Introduction

The SilverSneakers® Leadership for Chronic Conditions and Disease is designed to provide the basic exercise guidelines and leadership principles for those exercising with some of the most common chronic conditions. The information and knowledge gained in this course can be applied to each SilverSneakers class, enhancing the member experience.  Upon completion of this course, you will be awarded continuing education credits which can be applied toward the renewal of ACE, AFAA, NASM, AEA, ACSM and ISSA certifications.

Course Learning Objectives

  • Define chronic disease(s).
  • List the lifestyle choices that contribute to chronic diseases.
  • Describe how exercise and mindfulness prevent chronic conditions.
  • Identify a mindfulness technique that can be applied to your SilverSneakers group exercise class.
  • Apply the chronic conditions exercise guidelines for a safe and effective SilverSneakers class.

Course Directions

Step One: Review the content.

The SilverSneakers® Leadership for Chronic Conditions and Disease online instructor training includes four learning units and corresponding lessons. To progress through the lesson material, click “Next” at the bottom of the page. You can review your completed lessons through the table of contents at any time during the course.

Step Two: Complete the assessment.

All content, including videos and quizzes, is required. After reviewing the course material, you must successfully complete the final assessment.

Step Three: Download your course completion certificate.

After completing the course, you can download your continuing education certificate from your profile at instructor.tivityhealth.com. Make certain to keep your instructor profile up-to-date and complete all required continuing education.
